LogoLink Uganda Partners plan to hold more in-depth
discussions on issues of NGO ideology as a way of better understanding
the role of NGOs in the promotion of citizen participation in development.
This was agreed upon as part of a set of recommendations on how the LogoLink
partners can participate effectively during the transitions process towards
a multiparty democracy in Uganda.
The partners expressed the need to understand and appreciate
"who they were, why they were involved in local governance, their
desired goal in respect to citizens' participation in East Africa and
what is it that makes them unique as partners of the Logolink initiative."
The partners agreed that learning events should be
organized to deepen the partners thinking and understanding of local governance
in general and citizens' participation in particular, and how to translate
the thinking into practical achievements even in their own respective
organizations. They also agreed that more discussions in form of meetings
or any other strategies should be organized to reflect on the role of
NGOs in implementation and monitoring of the Poverty Eradication Action
Plan especially Pillar four on Governance and Poverty.
