Although the Centre for Basic Research, LogoLink coordinator
in East Africa from 2001 to 2003, will still be an active member of the
LogoLink network, the main LogoLink coordinator for East Africa will now
be the Development Network of Indigenous Voluntary Associations (DENIVA),
a network of NGOs based in Kampala, Uganda.
Through its work, DENIVA seeks to empower member organizations
and other civic organisations for democratic growth and sustainable development
through networking, advocacy and capacity building. DENIVA has programs
in the arenas of poverty eradication and good governance. Their governance
programmes encompass civic education, democratization and constitutionalism,
and local governance.
DENIVA is not a stranger to LogoLink as it was instrumental
in helping to coordinate a study
visit to India by representatives from Uganda local governments
and civil society organizations.
