On April 26 2004, LogoLink Latin America organized
the first round table dialogue series on "Participation in Innovation
Experiences of Local Government", which was held at Eldorado Boulevard
Hotel in São Paulo, Brazil.
This learning event promoted a dialogue between practitioners
from innovative local governments, civil society representatives, academics
and researchers to discuss new forms of participation, responsiveness,
accountability and also alternatives of deepen democracy.
Experiences were selected from the Innovations in Government
Award Program (Gestão Pública e Cidadania), a Ford Foundation
initiative based at Getulio Vargas Foundation. Professors Peter Spink
(FGV) and Zander Navarro (UFRGS/IDS) have also taken part in these discussions.
