Publications on Legal Frameworks for grassroot organisations, South Asia

This is a series of three booklets meant for grassroots voluntary organisations, local government elected representatives and officials. It is part of PRIA's efforts to make people aware about what is happening in other countries in the areas of local government. The publications are based on the results of the LogoLink research on Legal Frameworks for Citizens Participation. They are written in plain English and have a users' friendly format.

Local Governance Globally: Legal Frameworks
This booklet discusses the definition of a legal framework in the context of local governance and its defining factors and environments. It brings out many case studies and examples from all over the world.

Local Governance Globally: Governments in Action
This booklet presents a comparative review of legal frameworks in the context of local governance by region. A total of 18 case studies were analysed. It discusses how countries compare in terms of the frameworks themselves and how they are implemented.

Local Governance Globally: Issues to be Addressed
This booklet presents some of the issues identified in the research. It provides many examples from various countries and contexts.
