On 23 and 24 August 2005, CESEM (Mexico) and SERJUS
(Guatemala) held a meeting in Antigua which attracted 20 representatives
and 12 civil society organizations from Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua,
El Salvador, Guatemala, Cuba, Mexico and Brazil.The event was supported
by LogoLink as part of the sub-regional activities in Central America
and the Caribbean.
The purpose of this second workshop was to discuss
"Challenges and Alternatives for Citizen Participation and Local
Development" and to share common issues and alternatives in the region.
The organisations have also established commitments
to undertake an exchange program on participation and local development
for a third workshop taking place next year entitled "Social Strategic
Project".
