The Pólis Institute is a research organisation that specialises in participation and urban governance. Pólis Institute works with civil society organisations, local governments, and academic institutions and its partnerships are anchored on the principles of participation and the fight against social exclusion.
Current areas of work include the urban environment, urban planning and food security. Pólis Institute is active in the promotion of participatory budgeting in local councils for social policy and also produces two newsletters, one targeted at local governments, and the other for citizens involved in governance processes.
Pólis Institute is an active member of various national and regional networks, including the National Network for Participation in Local Governance.
