FOUNDATION FOR CONTEMPORARY RESEARCH (FCR), SOUTH AFRICA

The Foundation for Contemporary Research (FCR) is a development NGO based in Cape Town and works within the areas of good governance and municipal-community partnerships. It is an active member of the South African Good Governance Learning Network (GGLN), a network of Civil Society Organisations that aims to provide an interface for institutions working on issues of local governance to network and share information towards strengthening local democracy.

FCR has been working with local government issues since 1988 and more specifically with poverty alleviation issues since 1998. Its current programme aims to contribute to sustainable poverty alleviation interventions by facilitating good governance and municipal-community partnership processes. This is done through integrated research, community empowerment and advocacy within a sustainable livelihoods framework. FCR works in partnership with local communities, municipalities and other stakeholders to initiative and support poverty alleviation activities.

FCR's broad goal is to ensure that poor people enjoy increasing access to opportunities and resources to improve their living environment and engage as citizens in democratic processes.

The key LogoLink contact at FCR is Ismail Davids.
